BOXING: Joe James Featured on Showtime Card Tonight

Joe James, left weighed in yesterday afternoon at 144.2 while Emeka Ifekandu was 144.4.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota’s Joe James (4-0, 2 KO’s) is hours away from boxing at the WinnaVegas Casino & Resort in Sloan, Iowa. James will face tough mixed martial artist (boxing debut, MMA 6-3) Emeka Ifekandu of Nebraska on a Showtime-televised show. James vs. Ifekandu will not be televised but we will keep you updated with results.

James’ stellar amateur career is well documented and now he seeks his 5th win as a pro. It won’t come easy though as Ifekandu is always ready to fight and never puts on a dull performance. James had a great training camp and got in many rounds with Marlin Sims of Minneapolis to prepare. If things go as planned, we will see James box again this August in Hinckley, MN.

“We know he (Ifekandu) is extremely tough and has the size and reach to match Joe”. Said James’ manager Eric Hinderaker. “Joe has had to press the action a bit in his last couple of fights and I love this match-up because Emeka will be coming for war. He gets great work in Omaha with top MMA fighters and boxers and is represented by B&B boxing. This is a great opportunity for Joe to show how he has developed as a pro since his debut 10 months ago. Yes, Joe is scheduled for Hinckley August 9th, but we are definitely not overlooking Ifekandu.”

The main event pits “The Towering Inferno” Sebastian Fundora (12-0, 8 KO’s) against Hector Zepeda (17-0, 4 KO’s) in a super welterweight bout. The Showtime telecast begins at 9 PM. Fundora boxed twice at the Minneapolis Armory in 2018.
