Born and raised in Minneapolis, Ve Shawn “Mr. Magic” Owens (11-2, 10 KO’s) will step foot in the Armory boxing ring for the fourth time in his career later this month. Owens who stands 5’11” has thrilled fans in each of those bouts and says he will be moving down to 140 pounds which is the lightest he’s weighed as a professional by seven pounds. Owens told MinnesotaBoxing.com that his opponent will be Joseph Francisco (8-2) out of Tennessee.

“It’s been almost 2 years since I stepped in the armory. And now I’m stepping back in at 140” said Owens. “I’m just glad that I’m back in action. I’m strong, fast and healthy. I began my career by jumping from weight to weight and taking on whoever, just to get a fight. Being in Minnesota, it doesn’t give you many options. But Al gave me the opportunity to be where I feel comfortable. This is the weight I think I’ll call home…for the moment!”

James is in the process of relocating to Anoka, MN and will be training at Ludy’s Gym in Minneapolis.

I don’t know much on my opponent and honestly I never do. All I know is my coach will have me ready for anything that he comes up with. A lot has change for me over this last year. I’m excited to show my friends, family and fans how much I’ve improved over this time.”

Eric Hinderaker, owner of One-two Boxing and manager of James added “We are excited to be working with Tom Brown and TGB Promotions to bring one of Minnesota’s most popular fighters, Joe James, to the Armory! We expect a lot of Sniper fans in the building on June 27th!”
