“I was suppose to fight a couple times over the past three to four months (Once for Big Q Promotions this past December, twice in Texas and once in Atlantic City)” Nystrom told MN Boxing when we first discussed this fight a month ago. “Pretty much said yes to every offer and the opponents just always ended up falling through or I was offered guys I want to face potentially down the line. I want to get some more experience under my belt. Last fight in June, I just wasn’t in the right headspace before the fight, I had some things going on behind the scenes and I wasn’t ready mentally for my official pro debut. No excuses, I lost fair and square but I believe I lost because of my own lack of mental preparation. I learned so much from losing my first pro fight and I don’t ever want to feel that again.”

Nystrom says that he trains at his coaches growing home gym in Superior, Wisconsin and that Rondale Hubbert has been a major part of preparing him for next weekend.

“Rondale has been a huge addition to my training, not just with sparring but his knowledge and experience in boxing. I’ve leveled up so much because of him. We did a lot of sparring to get ready for Philadelphia We are going to represent MN/WI out East.”

“As far as my fight in Philadelphia goes, I don’t know much about my opponent. This is his debut but I’m treating him as a veteran. I’m doing a lot of sparring preparing for this guy. I love fighting close to home but something about going on the road for a fight makes it exciting. Especially in a city like Philadelphia!”
