MARK NELSON TO REFEREE WBO TITLE FIGHT THIS SATURDAY ON ESPN

Referee Mark Nelson will supervise the in-ring action between Junto Nakatani (24-0, 18 KO’s) of Japan and Australia’s Andrew Moloney (25-2, 16 KO’s) when they battle for the vacant WBO Junior Bantamweight title this Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Nakatani-Moloney bout in-which Nelson will referee can be watched live on ESPN between 7PM and 9PM CST. After the bout, ESPN will switch to it’s Pay Per View platform ESPN+ which features the anticipated showdown between Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko for the IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO lightweight championships.

This will be Nelson’s second time working as a referee in Las Vegas. On August 3, 2018, he refereed three bouts (SEE HERE) on a Bounce TV televised show at Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall, Las Vegas, Nevada. Also, In 1995, Nelson judged an NABF title fight between Stevie Johnston and Howard Grant at Arizona Charlie’s in Las Vegas. Richard Steele was the referee for that fight. Incredibly, Saturday’s assignment will be the 116th world title bout for Nelson, of Maplewood, MN.
