“It’s Showtime” As Akale Meets Krael At Element Gym June 17

Big Q Promotions presents professional boxing on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Element Boxing and Fitness in Saint Paul, MN. The main event of “It’s Showtime” should be explosive when Sona “Slink Proper” Akala (7-0, 4 KO’s) of Saint Paul, MN and Cameron Krael (19-27-1) of Las Vegas, NV box in a bout scheduled for 8 rounds. The two will battle for Akale’s Mid America Super Welterweight title.

This will be a major test for Akale because Krael brings an outstanding reputation for giving many up and comers fits in the ring. Krael has faced some of the best out there including going seven rounds with Jamal “Shango” James. Both confident men tell MN Boxing that they expect nothing less than a victory on June 17. Akale won the vacant Mid America Super Welterweight title last December and his team accepted a great fan-friendly match-up for his first defense against Krael. Akale has been sparring with Caleb Truax, Ve Shawn Owens and many more top local fighters to prepare for the biggest challenge of his career.

The musician turned boxer Akale has been impressive throughout his seven pro wins while combining speedy-slick combinations with power. Fight reports across the internet reveal that The Hawaiian born Krael has been regularly involved in thrilling, and exciting bouts. His record may be one of the most deceiving in the sport. Like Akale, Krael spars with world class boxers and stays ready to fight.

“This will definitely be my most prestigious or decorated opponent thus far” Said Akale. “For example a few weeks ago, he was sparring (former World WBA Super Welterweight Champion) Yordenis Ugas. He is a boxer who is known and that has been in there with world champions including Jamal James so it will be a great look on my record by beating him. So I said hey, I’ll put my belt on the line for it.”

“We were all on the phone at the same time and he asked for the belt to be on the line. He thinks I’m too small but I’m going to show him. I’m going to show him that big things come in small packages! I’m looking forward to it. He’s coming to fight and he’s getting the best sparring in the world. You know I’m coming to fight. I stay ready so I don’t have to get ready.”

“I can’t divulge my game plan for obvious reasons but I definitely expect to give you all a hell of a fight.”

Sona Akale speaking to MN Boxing

” I feel like this fight is going to be a walk in the park for me”. Said Krael. “I have the height advantage and I’ve fought the better opposition. I’ve got 49 fights now. Humbly, but I bust my ass in training and I’m young. I’m 29 years old and he’s 35. Age does play a difference. This is a young man’s sport. I’m going to go in there and use my distance, use my length, use my jab and I can brawl as well. I’ve been in there with the best of the best and I beat a lot of them and got robbed by a lot of them. I think it’s going to be a good fight but I’ve got the upper advantage.”

“It’s going to be an 8 round fight so I will have a lot of time to work. It’s not a 4 or 6 round fight. I will have time to think in there. I’ve fought 8, 10 rounders and been in there with everybody. Way better opposition, and against young guys. I’m not going to look past him. At the end of the day, it’s a fight. I bust my ass way too much to go in there and lose to him though. It’s in his hometown but I feel like I’m just a better boxer and I can brawl when I want to.”

“Humbly, I feel like I’m going to stop him. Maybe by KO or TKO. There is no way he’s going 8 rounds with me. I feel like as the rounds proceed, he’s not going to be able to take it.”
