BOXING: BRANT SHOWS TOUGHNESS IN LOSS

WBA #2 middleweight Robert “Bravo” Brant (22-1, 15 KO’s) lost a 12 round unanimous decision to former light heavyweight world champion Juergen Braehmer (49-3, 35 KO’s) on Friday, October 27th, in Germany. Final scores read Scores were 119-109, 118-110, 116-112 in favor of the hometowner Braehmer. Brant had moved up to super middleweight to compete in the World Boxing Series tournament while Braehmer dropped a weight class.
Brant had his moments in the fight, catching the former world champ and hurting him on a few occasions particularly in the first half of the fight. But Braehmer’s strength and experience made it difficult for the Minnesotan to find his range or rhythm as the fight went on. Braehmer showed that he has plenty left in the tank at the age of 38. Brant made no excuses afterwards and congratulated Braehmer’s for moving on in the tournament. Word is that Brant will be moving back down to the middleweight division.
