“WOLFMAN” LINDQUIST HUNTS ELK TONIGHT IN IOWA

Marty “The Wolfman” Lindquist (15-12, 11 KO’s) is back on the hunt later tonight, returning to the boxing ring in Sioux City, Iowa. The bout is scheduled for 4 rounds in the light heavyweight division against Maurice Elk (1-4) of Montana. The Wolfman revealed plans to attack Elk savagely from the start exclaiming “I’m going down there to break his ribs!” to Minnesotaboxing.com on the night before dinner bell.

Marty Lindquist, right, and Maurice Elk, left face off after weigh-in’s on Friday night in Iowa.

Lindquist has been entertaining boxing crowds professionally since 2004 and at 54 is Minnesota boxing’s oldest active prize fighter in history.

In comparison, Anthony “The Bullet” Bonsante was 45 when he faced Yory Boy Campus in 2016 which was the last professional bout in Bonsante’s MN boxing hall of fame career.

The oldest Minnesota boxers to mix it up in front of a paying crowd are Billy Light and My Sullivan according to MN boxing historian Jake Wegner.

“The state record for the oldest boxer ever to climb in the ring if including exhibitions, is legendary Saint Paul welterweight, Billy Light at age 65 when he agreed to fight a 3 round exhibition against former roaring 20’s arch-rival, My Sullivan, who himself was 63 for the fight” said Wegner. “It occurred at the Venetian Inn in St. Paul on Rice Street”.

Lindquist is eager to continue raising his mark in Minnesota boxing’s record book later tonight.

“I’m very excited for this opportunity and I’m making the most of it”. Said Lindquist. “I’m training hard at Valhalla Combat and Strike Fitness and I’m psyched up and ready. The stakes are too high to be messing around so I’m going out to make a statement!”

Lindquist vs. Elk appears to be the opening bout of the night which begins at 7:30 PM CST and can be watched live for a fee at the following link, https://bxngtv.com/15thround101423/.
