Minneapolis, Minnesota’s Sona “Slink Proper” Akale (now 4-0, 3 KO’s) stopped Jake Henriksen (now 3-6) of Glyndon, MN at 2:04 of the third round by TKO. It was an entertaining welterweight bout with the taller Henriksen sticking a solid jab from the start. Akale used movement and hard/quick combinations, particularly the right hand to work his way inside with success. Akale shook Henriksen with a clubbing right to the head in round three which he followed up with four more that slumped Henriksen to the ropes in his own corner. The ref jumped between the two and waived the fight off at 2:04 into the third round.

24 year old Danny Huffman of Duluth, MN (now 4-1-1, 2 KO’s) won a lopsided four round unanimous decision over Thomas Benson (now 0-1) in a welterweight bout. Huffman used his height at body work to slow down and outbox Benson over the course of the fight. The body shots already showed an effect by the end of round one as Benson looked winded. Huffman dropped Benson with a right uppercut in round two and a head-body shot combination near the end of the second put him down again.
Benson for his part wasn’t able to get much going offensively but he proved tough and never quit. By the fourth round, Benson had trouble keeping his hands up and Huffman took full advantage by battering him until the final bell. Final scores read 40-36 on all three cards.

Gavino Angel Guaman of Apple Valley, MN improved to (6-4-1, 2 KO’s) with a second round knockout victory over Jeff Chaske (now 0-3) of Flandreau, South Dakota. Guaman put a steady, non stop pressure on Chaske in the opening round of their bout. Guaman rushed out of his corner and Chaske took a knee to begin the second. It was unclear if he was hit or just needed another break. He looked like a tired and beaten fighter and began limping and hunched over clutching his foot. He did continue however but was met with a left and rights to the head and body by Guaman. Chaske went down where he was counted out at 1:32 of the second round.

Leo Medel (now 2-0, 2 KO’s) of Apple Valley, MN stopped Khari Fields (now 0-1) of Berwick, Pennsylvania by TKO in round three. We were not able to watch the fight for details but Medel told Minnesotaboxing.com afterwards that he dropped Fields once before the stoppage. More details to come.
