NATE RUBIN, WINSTON ANDERSON PLAN TO STEAL THE SHOW TONIGHT

Tonight’s main event title fight between Antonio Johnson and Mohammed Kayongo at the Grand

Winson Anderson, left, and Nate Rubin, right, face off at last night’s weigh-in.

Casino, Hinckley has the state buzzing. Add to that the other marquee names in action and you have a fun show. But the undercard match up between Duluth’s Winston Anderson and Thief River Fall’s Nate Rubin has the potential to be a fight of the night and that’s what both fighters say they are ready to produce.

“This has honestly been my best fight camp to date” said Anderson who goes by the nickname “Nasty Time”. “My dieting has been great and I am physically and mentally the best I have ever felt in my career. I have a new team coming into this fight and we have all really clicked. It’s been a very easy turn over as far as gym atmosphere and fighter-trainer vibes. I couldn’t have asked for a better change up. Joe Lorenzi is my head corner/trainer. He’s a great trainer and friend. He expects nothing but the best from me in training camp and is very motivational and fun to work with.  I have given this camp all the focus and dedication that was needed and I’m beyond ready to let the new training and skills I’ve learned in this camp show in the ring.”

Nate Rubin also says that he had a top notch training camp and looks to bring what he picked up to the ring. “Training camp has went real well. I feel a lot more focused and prepared for this fight than my last. I’ve also had the opportunity to travel and train with some other gyms so I will be ready on Friday night. I got a lot of different looks in sparring so I feel I’m ready for whatever comes. I’m Always learning and taking in whatever I can.”

Both fighters said that they know little about the other guy and that they plan on handling business regardless of what the other man brings.

“I don’t know much about Nate Rubin and I don’t much care to know anything about him” said Anderson. “No disrespect to him.  I just know I have a job to do for myself, my team, and all the “Nasty Time” fans. And believe me, I promise to handle business. My trainer has done the homework on him and I know what I need to know.”

To be honest, I don’t know a whole lot about Winston as a fighter” said Rubin. “Every time I step into the ring, I expect a war and this is no different. All I know is that I am coming fight night to perform to the best of my abilities. He’s got a decent record that I’m looking to add to my resume. May the best man win.”

Winston Anderson had the following to say in closing… “You can expect an entirely different warrior in the ring then you have seen in the past. I know what I am capable of and i know how I’m going to handle this fight. It will be one hell of a Nasty Time for Nate Rubin. I wan to thank Cory Rapacz and the Grand Casino Hinckley for another great night of fights. My trainer Joe Lorenzi for being an extremely busy family man and still taking care of his gym and being there for me. Josh Moore, Aaron Resberg, and Todd Bechtold. My mom Keni Anderson and of course all my fans, family and friends. I’m coming to bring a straight up action packed fight.”
