3soteric Promotions presents “KO’S AND ATE COUNT” this Friday night at the Medina Entertainment 
Center in Medina, MN. What’s better than watching great KO’s and fantastic Muay Thai fights? Having a catered three-course meal at your table while it happens! 3soteric has been running radio ads on 93X and KQRS all week and like the last show, fans can expect a high-class event for both the fight community and the casual viewer.
The main event features 3soteric 172 pound champion Derek Varin of Minneapolis taking on a tough fighter from Detroit named Jay Jackson in a three round non-title fight. According to promoter Merrick Morlan, Varin is working his way to fight for an IKF title.
Originally from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Varin made his way to Minneapolis for work where he found The Cellar Gym. His training brings him all over the state including JZ Kickboxing and Anytime Fitness in Duluth.
Last July on 3soteric’s inaugural show, Varin blasted out tough Worcester, Massachusetts fighter Ben Peak in one of the night’s featured bouts.
“He hit hard but I’ve been striking for a long time,” said Varin. “I ended up seeing holes and landed a spinning back elbow. I could see he quit after that. I landed a knee afterward but it was that elbow that did it.”
“I don’t know a lot about him (Jackson) but I’m sure he hits and throws hard” Varin continued. “My plan is to knock him out. I’ll give up points and will let guys hit me sometimes just to take them out! If you come out, you will get a great show. I throw stuff in Muay Thai that I don’t do in MMA. I don’t like decisions.”
As good as the main event should be, Morlan says that the co-main event between heavyweights Danyelle Williams and Will Thorn could steal the show. “They are two big heavyweights with lots of experience and both hometown Minnesota boys”.
