MN FIGHT NEWS: WEEKEND RESULTS, RICHARDSON AND HUBBERT

Featherweight Nate “The Natural” Richardson (11-3, 5 KO’s) battered Justin “The Purple People Eater” Greskiewicz (41-23-3, 18 KO) last Friday night at Glory 61 in New York. Richardson took away Greskiewicz’ height advantage early, landing a hard uppercut and left hook to the temple that dropped him for the first time. Richardson continued to box as Greskiewicz fired back with kicks. A hard left hand to the body scored for Richardson and his opponent fell to the canvas again moments later. Greskiewicz rose by the count of 8 but was met by more punches from Richardson and finally a knee to the head that put an end to the fight at 2:33 of the first round.

“It Feels good!”, said Richardson afterwards. “I came with everything I have. I did what I do best, keep the pressure on him. Working with Caleb Truax, I have no choice but to let my hands go! I see myself working my way down to the top ten.”

Minnesota state super lightweight champion Rondale “Give Em Hell” Hubbert (12-7-1, 7 KO’s) took a short notice fight in Dallas, Texas last Thursday, November 1st. Hubbert was supposed to box undefeated Luis Hernandez Ramos (14-0, 13 KO’s) of Mexico) but Ramos was unable to make his way into the United States on the day of weigh-ins. 26-year-old Derek Perez (3-9) of New Mexico was found at the last minute to take on Hubbert. The show was a black-tie affair and closed to the public so not many details or results are available. Hubbert however, says that he lost a decision, one that has him shaking his head at the three judges.

“He (Perez) was busted up, eye cut, nose bloody”, said Hubbert who left the ring without a scratch. “I countered him and he just threw a lot of sloppy punches. I slipped and made him miss and made him pay. It’s just not fair the way they do us out of state sometimes. No KO, no victory, It’s messed up. He was busy but I countered beutifully. I’ve got no regrets and my head is held up high. It was a robbery though.”

If rumors are correct, we will see Hubbert back in Minnesota on January 19, 2019, at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN. Word is that Hubbert could be defending his MN state title against Saint Paul’s DeLorien Caraway (11-2).
