MMA: MARTINEZ-DONIS/PACHECO IN LFA 82 SPOTLIGHT THIS FRIDAY

Legacy Fighting Alliace returns to the Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, MN this Friday night to present LFA 82. The main event pits Contender series star Jamal Pogues (7-2) against undefeated prospect Alex Polizzi (5-0) in a 205 pound LFA Title Fight. Minneapolis featherweight Nate Richardson (7-1) battles unbeaten Jake Childers (7-0) of Illinois in the co-feature. Four other bouts are scheduled to be broadcast on UFC Fight Pass. But it is an un-televised 145 pound undercard bout between Saint Cloud, Minnesota’s Angel Pacheco (2-0) and Felipe Martinez Donis (1-0) of Arcadia, Wisconsin that has many fans anticipating fight of the night on a stacked card including matchmaker Jeremy Bjornberg.

“We are very excited for this show” said Bjornberg. “I don’t know as much about the main-event fighters but every other fight is a pick em! I love the upcoming amateurs we are featuring and so many top young prospects getting their chance to succeed on this level will be great for Mystic Lake and UFC Fight Pass. With that said, my favorite fight so far is Felipe vs. Angel. It’s going to be a war!”

Donis and Pacheco earned praise after making names for themselves as amateurs and now early as pros. Each plan on using Friday night’s fight to make another statement on the big LFA stage. Pacheco trains out of Start BJJ in Saint Cloud, MN. He says he got into mixed martial arts at the age of 13 after watching Yves Edwards knockout Josh Thomson with a jumping head kick in 2004 (WATCH VIDEO HERE). Pacheco told MNFN that the biggest win of his career came last November when he won the Driller Promotions Featherweight title in dominant fashion over tough as nails Sam Hernandez and looks to one-up that victory this Friday night.

“I had a great camp with head coach Brock Larson and my other coaches Joe Dedrick and Chaz Haag” said Pacheco. Those guys make sure I am prepared and my team at Start BJJ. I could not ask for a better group of people around me to prepare.”

“I know my opponent is well rounded with an unbeaten record as an amateur and a professional” Pacheco continued. “He is primarily a wrestler. I feel he will try and grind out a decision win. The fans should expect me to push the pace from round one until the end of round three but I feel I will get the finish in the second round via strikes.”

Felipe Martinez Donis was born in Guatemala before his family made the journey to the US (you can read the incredible story HERE). Training out of Ironworks Training Center in Wisconsin, Martinez-Donis has a good wrestling background with an eye on ending fights inside the distance as well. Six out of his eight career fights for the undefeated fighter have ended with a finish.

” I am beyond excited to be on this show” said Martinez Donis following a training session. “As I sit here in the cage, I am thinking that I just want to give the fans what they are expecting that night. I want to go out there and prove that I am ready to take on anything. I don’t smoke but I want all this smoke man! I’m ready to run this division (145 pounds). There are some tough opponents out there. Angel Pacheco is one of them. I just want to fight. I am really excited to get out there on Friday and do what I’ve been training to do.”

“I expect him (Pacheco) to come out there with everything he’s got. I hope he’s expecting me to come out with everything I’ve got. I’m going to try to push myself for this fight because I don’t even think I am aware of what I’m capable of. I want to test that on Friday night. It’s going to be a great night!”
