MMA: Davi Young, Joey Hart Results From Missouri

23-year-old Davi “The Apex Predator” Young improved his undefeated amateur MMA record to (now 4-0) on Saturday, June 22 in Grandview, Missouri. Young defeated Missouri’s Allan Olivas (now 4-2) over three rounds of action with all three judges seeing it 30-27. Young recapped the fight by stating that he was able to land jabs, kicks, score reversals after his opponent took him down twice (which pissed him off), and almost ended the fight in round two with a short choke before time expired. Young revealed to Minnesota Fight News that he plans on taking one more amateur fight before turning pro within the next year.

“I could have shown more in this fight”, said Young who was likely being his toughest critic. “The guy wasn’t really trying to scrap. He had that I’m going to grind you down to bone dust mentality. I got the job done and now it’s time to focus on my jiu-jitsu, take one more amateur fight, and then turn pro”.

Also on the card, 22-year-old Joey Hart (now 6-3-1) of Willmar, MN lost a tough decision to Missouri’s John O’Brian (now 4-2). All three judges scored the fight 30-27 in favor of O’Brian. In typical fashion, Hart gave the fans a good show as he and O’Brian mixed the action up while standing and on the ground. O’Brian’s wrestling was the difference maker in the fight.

“Damn, lost on points tonight”, said Hart afterwards to his friends and fans on social media. “Got out-wrestled by a very tough opponent. Really bummed about this but I’m ready to do whatever it takes to get better and come back stronger.”
