Mengistu Zarzar Decisions Hall in Georgia For 10th Win

Mengistu “The Dynamic Warrior” Zarzar (now 10-7-1, 8 KO’s) defeated Timothy Hall Jr. (now 9-27) earlier tonight at the Century Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The four round victory over Hall was Zarzar’s fourth straight victory. Despite his record, Hall rarely gets stopped and has surprised some good fighters in the past. Zarzar told Minnesotaboxing.com via telephone after the fight that he was aware of the experience and boxing abilities of Hall so went in looking to stay disciplined and out-box his experienced opponent. And that is what he did.

“My homeboy called me before the fight and told me this guy can really fight. That he is tough. This is coming from a good undefeated fighter. He told me to go in there and box him, not try to knock him out and that’s exactly what I did. I went in there and threw hands with him and got the edge.”

“I won by split decision but I thought it should have been unanimous” Zarzar continued. “It was actually supposed to be a six rounder but he wanted a four rounder so I figured he wasn’t in shape to go six. He wasn’t slick and was there to be hit but he could punch. I hit him to the body with clean shots and hit him to the head with clean shots but he was taking them. His legs were slowing by the end and if it was a six rounder, I feel like I would have knocked him out. I didn’t knock him out but I took him to school and dropped him off”

Zarzar of Minneapolis and currently living in Georgia says that he hopes to be back and looking for win number 11 this fall. It has been rumored that he could be featured on an in-the-works show in Duluth on October 2nd but says if he comes back to Minnesota, he would like to fight in the Minneapolis Area.

“I don’t have any set plans but I do know that I only want to fight in Minneapolis if I come back to Minnesota. My fan base is in Minneapolis and every time I fight outside of Minneapolis, my fans get upset. They have a hard time driving way outside of Minneapolis. I’m grateful to God that my career has turned around. At this point I am ready to start putting in more work when sharpening up my skills. I will be having a real training camp for my next one rather than just training with me and my coach. I am looking to go out to a full training camp to sharpen up my skills.
