Bouts set to begin at approximately 8 PM CST at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN

MAIN EVENT
Colton Warner (4-1, 3 KO’s) of Pine City, MN knocked out Anthony Garrett (1-1, 1 KO) of Overland Park, Kansas in round one of the heavyweight main event. Warner dropped Garret three times with short right hands in close range before referee Mark Nelson stopped the bout at 2:31 of the first round. Garrett came to fight but didn’t take the punches well and folded.

Round 1: Two hard rights hurt Garrett and another drops Garrett to the canvas. Warner went to work to the body after action continued. Another right dropped Garrett face first. Action continued, Warner landed a left-right that dropped Garrett again who fell and referee Mark Nelson stopped the fight.

7. Damion Hill (5-14) of Brooklyn Park, MN won a six round unanimous decision over Danny Huffman (6-2-1, 1 KO) of Duluth, MN in a super welterweight bout. Scores read 58-56 x 3. Hill switched from orthodox to southpaw while outworking Huffman over the distance.

Round 1: Hill switching from southpaw to orthodox, Huffman boxing calm to start behind stiff jabs. Very close round.

Round 2: Lots of inside boxing from both boxers in round two. Hill landed the more significant punches of the round.

Round 3: Two solid right hands to the head by Huffman kick off round three. Hill continued to switch stances, and fire back nice jabs and hooks. A straight right to the head seemed to momentarily stumble Huffman although he recovered quick. Huffman looked tired in the corner while Hill refused to sit between rounds.

Round 4: Hill looked fresh and began looking for body shots to try to drain more energy from Huffman. Huffman circled and fired right hands but had trouble finding Hill as the round came to a close.

Round 5: Hill stuck right in the face of Huffman in round five. Huffman fired back but Hill looked confident while staying mostly southpaw. Huffman pressed the gas pedal with 20 seconds remaining, landing a nice right to the head but it was Hill’s round.

Round 6: Round six was slightly more low key with Hill coasting on points now. Huffman had a few good moments but Hill closed the fight well.

“I appreciate everyone coming out” said Huffman after the fight. “Unfortunately tonight wasn’t my night. But you can bet it on it I’ll be back and better than ever”.

6. Corey Thompson (4-0, 3 KO’s) of Alexandria, MN knocked out Blake Bergeson (0-1) of New Hope, MN in a light heavyweight bout at 2:08 into round one.

Round 1: Thompson landing nice crisp jabs and rights to the head early. Bergeson was game but Thompson was on point, landing a big left hook that dropped Bergeson. Thompson’s long range shots had Bergeson stumbling and the the canvas for a final time as Scott Erickson had seen enough.

5. Thomas Matlon (2-1, 1 KO) of Minneapolis, MN defeated Dennys Reyes (3-2, 1 KO) of Fridley, MN a heavyweight bout by disqualification at 1:18 of the first round.

Round 1: Heavy uppercut dropped Matlon to a knee where he was counted out by referee Scott Erickson. Reyes hit Matlon multiple times when he was down to a knee from the initial shot. After some confusion, the result was announced as a DQ win for Matlon. Both fighters looked good up until the point of the knockdown. Both fighters would have liked to continue the fight and a rematch is almost a promise.

4. Gavin Hendrickson (2-0, 2 KO) of Richfield, MN stopped Alex Citrowske (1-1, 1 KO) of Coon Rapids, MN in a middleweight bout at 1:11 of the third round. Both fighters tasted the canvas in a slugfest before referee Mark Nelson stopped the bout with Hendrickson busting up a tough and relentless Citrowski.

Round 1: Short left hook by Hendrickson dropped Citrowske at the opening bell after Citrowske stormed out of his corner with punches. Hendrickson used his height nicely with a good jab and guard. Citrowske was hurt by three consecutive rights to the head but continued to hunt for the one shot knockout punch.

Round 2: Huge right dropped Hendrickson a minute in. Hendrickson stormed back with combos that hurt Citrowske.

Round 3: Hendrickson battered a tough Citrowske (bloody nose and split lip) before referee Mark Nelson stopped the fight.

“It was a tough night and I ended up with the L” said Citrowske. “Sometimes you start bleeding and it just won’t stop. That’s the game! Was a hard 3 rounds and I brought the fight I promised. Was heavily impressed with my opponents jab. Quick and like a whip I learned every second I was in there. I got that feel that power to sit someone down again and need to refine myself to become a better boxer. Simply put I am going to get better! Thank you so much for the support and to everyone cheering me on. This is still early and it’s time to keep evolving to be the best fighter I can be!”

3. Ashkan Morvari (1-0, 1 KO) of Eagan, MN stopped Richard Smith (0-5) of Missouri in a middleweight bout. Morvari dropped Smith in the second and third before a barrage of unanswered punches forced referee Scott Erickson to stop the bout at 2:17 of the third.

Round 1: Morvari won the round by outworking Smith down the stretch although Smith started strong.

Round 2: The 44 year old southpaw Morvari continuted to come forward but was caught by a right by Smith. Morvari answered moments later with a nice body-head combo. Morvari began to line up the straight right to the head as Smith began to tire. Hard straight right dropped Smith to the canvas.

Round 3: Morvari, a mixed martial artist did a nice job of mixing shots to the head and body. Morvari landing unanswared shots forcing Scott Erickson to end the bout.

2. Robbie Loyde (1-0, 1 KO) of Minneapolis, MN vs. Sam Hernandez (1-1) of Mankato, MN defeated Robbie Loyde (1-1) by decision in a super welterweight bout. Scores read 39-38, 39-37, 39-37

Round 1: Loyde the taller and calmer of the two but Hernandez was busier as he came forward but had trouble landing solid punches.

Round 2: Hernandez simply outworking Loyde as round two came to a close. Loyde fighting with a calm, slippery defense but not firing back enough.

Round 3: Hernandez continued to become more confident with Loyde not offering much in return. Loyde landed some good jabs and avoided anything serious from Hernandez but still was outworked.

Round 4: A big left hook to the body by Loyde dropped Hernandez into the ropes with a minute left. Loyde had Hernandez hurt but couldn’t seize the moment as both boxers finished the fight standing.

1. Josh Clark (5-0, 1 KO) of Fridley, MN defeats Roman Cruz (0-1) of Grand Forks, ND in a super lightweight bout by majority decision. Scores read 39-37, 39-37, 38-38

Rounds 1: Cruz popping straight punches while 22 year old Clark winging hard shots early. Straight left-right was the first significant combo of the fight. Clark leading with right out of the orthodox stance. Former state title challenger Nate Rubin in the corner of Cruz and James Clark/Alex Citrowske accompanying Clark.

Rounds 2: Clark controlled round two with counterpunches at a higher volume of punches thrown.

Round 3: Both boxers wanted to come forward and fought for the right to do so. Cruz switched to southpaw with success.

Round 4: Cruz continued to do well as a southpaw causing Clark to miss. Both fighters come forward non stop. Nice right hooks by Cruz.
