JIU JITSU: TCI BLACK BELT TOURNAMENT, SUPER FIGHTS, AND SEMINAR THIS SATURDAY

 Twin Cities Invitational is back this Saturday to present a Black Belt Absolute, Submission Only Gi Tournament, and a seminar led by a Jiu-Jitsu legend and world champion André Galvão. Black Belts ranging in weight from 135 pounds to 235 pounds compete for a cash prize and the title of TCI champion. Two super fights are also scheduled. Master Cleber Luciano meets Master Renato Tavares, and Kevin Skadsheim (M-Theory) battles Mike Anderson (Shebaro Jiu Jitsu).

WHO: Twin Cities Invitational – a community supporting mental and physical health through social interaction, music, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

WHAT: Black Belt Absolute, Submission Only Gi Tournament, and a seminar led by a Jiu-Jitsu legend and world champion André Galvão. Event offers a social hour for the guests and athletes to enjoy music and share food and drink, meet Jiu-Jitsu practitioners and appreciators (and may be, see a high-level BJJ tournament with their own eyes for the first time!) as well as people from all walks of life whose journeys have been greatly impacted by the “gentle art” and thus, changed for the better. Twin Cities Invitational is proud to be partnering up with the We Defy Foundation, donating 10% of the event contributions to help disabled combat veterans get the therapy they need and practice Jiu-Jitsu.

WHERE & WHEN: The Lab Theater (700 N 1st Street, Minneapolis, MN 55401) on August 17 th, 2019,with André Galvão seminar starting at 1:30 pm, followed by open doors and a social hour at 4:30, while the Black Belt Absolute tournament is scheduled for 5:30 pm.

WHY: Twin Cities Invitational is striving to create an inclusive Jiu-Jitsu culture, in which we all can share and learn, providing a non-judgmental atmosphere for spectators to have fun and a platform for Midwest Jiu-Jitsu athletes to grow and compete against the best. We believe that our joint efforts will inspire participation in the sport and help us spread awareness of worthy causes, enabling us to give back to the people in our community.

TCI team are firm advocates for mental health awareness, so each of our events is partnered with an organization in support of providing therapeutic opportunities for those in need. Partnering up with the We Defy Foundation, the Iron Shield event is bringing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts to the TCI mats to showcase the highest level of “arte suave” and compete for the grand prize. We are also proud to announce  André Galvão joining the Iron Shield Event to teach a seminar before the tournament.
