Jamal “Shango” James (18-0, 9 KOs), of Minneapolis defeated former Olympian Javier Molina (17-2, 8 KOs) on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, California. James used his 6’2 frame and accompanying reach to land hard jabs and counter punching combinations that seemed to take most of the fight out of Molina by the bouts midway point.
Despite the seemingly dominant performance throughout, the Fox Sports 1/PBC announcer Sergio Mora and his colleague seemed to heavily favor Molina. It was only after round 7 that even they had no choice but to state the obvious, which was that James was pitching a near shutout.  Molina was tough and was able to score at times with flurries, but James’ footwork and all around arsenal prevailed in the end. It was a big win for the Minnesotan and one that has officially placed him among the other prospects to watch around the world in the welterweight division. Scores were unanimous for Jamal James at 99-91, 98-92, 97-93
