After two years of boxing on the road, 32 year old “Golden” Caleb Truax (25-2) will be back in the main event in his home state of Minnesota. It looks like Truax will face Melvin Betancourt (29-3) of The Dominican Republic in a 10 round middleweight bout at the Black Bear Casino in Carlton, MN. Truax fought Ossie Duran at the Target Center in Minneapolis on January 3rd of 2014 before boxing his next three consecutive bouts in Illinois. The last of which was his world title challenge against Champion Daniel Jacobs in April of 2015.

Minnesota State Super Bantamweight champion Vicente Alfaro (6-4) of Northfield will go back to the bantamweight division to battle undefeated Missouri boxer John Franklin (9-0). Alfaro has been vocal about challenging MN bantamweight champ Jonathan Perez and a strong showing against Franklin could set that fight up down the road. Franklin is currently signed with Seconds Out Promotions.

Madison, Wisconsin’s Duarn Vue (8-0) will take on another undefeated fighter in Jerren Cochran (11-0) who fights out of Virgina. Vue is 2-0 at Black Bear, most recently defeating Emanuel Gonzalez (14-2) last October.  The bout is scheduled for 8 rounds in the featherweight division.

Duluth’s Trevor Marmon (2-5) and Florida’s Daniel Placeres (2-0) are scheduled to meet in a 4 round rematch bout at 135 pounds. Placeres won a four round split decision last June in Mounds View in the first meeting. Joe Amouta (3-1) of Minneapolis will meet Deangelo Curtis (2-1) of Brooklyn Park in a 4 round super middleweight contest.  Heavyweights  Edwin Alvarez (7-0) and Juan Goode (6-3) throw down in a 6 rounder. “The Dynamic Warrior” Mengistu Zarzar (3-0) of Brooklyn Park will face North Dakota’s Tommy Ray (3-1)
