“Minnesota Ice” Joey Abell (35-10, 30 KO’s) will headline back in MN on Saturday, March 21st, 2020 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
This will be the concrete fisted southpaw’s second consecutive fight back in Minnesota after picking up a quick win against Quincy Palmer last November in Maplewood, MN. Details on an opponent are limited but Abell, 38, says he will settle for nothing less than a tough fight when he returns next month.

“Tony (Grygelko) and I agreed that it’s time to step it up rather then take another tuneup fight” said Abell. “I am too old to be taking it slow. So we’re looking for a challenging opponent and will be stepping it up every fight from here on out. You will be seeing “Minnesota Ice” at 100% and I’m looking forward to putting on a good show.”
Welterweight Javontae Starks (13-2-1, 7 KO’s) of Minneapolis will box in a featured fight against an opponent to be named. Starks last fought in Minnesota back in 2014 and inactivity has been an issue recently. After relocating to Detroit, Michigan, Starks is back in Minnesota where he will split training camp between Lyke’s Boxing and Northside Boxing gyms before heading back out of state.
“I’m excited to be back in Minnesota and fighting in front of one of the best crowds I’ve ever fought in” said Starks. “I’m appreciative to be fighting back in my home city especially when boxing is at it’s highest it’s been at in a while. I want to blend in and be a part of the things that some of the guys that are successful right now are doing. Jamal James, Caleb Truax, and Robert Brant. I’m excited and plan on giving a great show. I just can’t wait to stay active. My main deal has been being inactive and I plan on being active. I think I’ve got that opportunity with Tony G.”
Mike “The Marine” Richman (2-0, 1 KO) of Rosemount, MN also returns to boxing action after nearly 8 years away from the ring. Richman resides in Pittsburgh and has been busy since being away from boxing. He has been competing at a high level in MMA having fought for Bellator and LFA. Last September, Richman made his Bare Knuckle Boxing debut toying with Juan Llamas at 4 Bear Casino in ND before the fight was called a no contest due to an accidental headbutt. Video later showed the cut which ended the fight was caused by a well timed punch from Richman as Llamas looked for a way out.
Stay tuned for more fight announcements.
