Former IBF Super Middleweight champion Caleb Truax of Osseo expects to close out 2019 on a high by
headlining a card at Myth December 14th.
“I’ve got some great prospects for February 2020, but I’ve only had a few rounds of boxing in the last year so I’m chomping at the bit to get back in the ring,” Truax says. “I look forward to going out and putting on a show in front of my hometown fans and all of #TeamTruax on December 14th then jumping back into a big-time fight soon after.”
Truax had to withdraw from a highly anticipated match August 31st match against Peter Quillin due to a right Achilles injury. His rehab has gone as planned, and he will take on Brazilian Jackson Junior (22-13) on Dec. 14th.
“The Myth is a bit of a homecoming because it was one of venues Caleb fought at early in his career,” says Tony Grygelko, founder of Tony G Presents. “Caleb has had a challenging year so I’m thrilled to have him closing out the year with a fight in Minnesota.”
Truax helped put Minnesota on the boxing map, and the card will feature some promising fighters from the state and region:
Charles Meier (8-4-2) of Coon Rapids, Donald Williams (0-1) of Mounds View, Danny Huffman (3-0-1) of Duluth, Jesse Walters (2-0) of Duluth, Amy “Hard Hands” Lemenager (1-0) of Duluth and Justn Olejnicak of Burnsville will make his pro debut.
“To fight on a card with Caleb Truax, who not only known in the Midwest but all over the world, is just amazing,” Lemenager says. “I am so grateful for my team, my sponsors and everyone who has provided me these opportunities.”
Myth is one of the region’s top concert houses and event centers and is located at 3090 Southlawn Drive, Maplewood, just north of St. Paul.
“We’ve generated a lot of momentum with boxing back at the Myth so it seems figting that Minnesota’s biggest boxing star Caleb Truax will headline our next show,” says Myth general manager Brian Jessen. “We are proud of the experience we provide at the Myth and look forward to an unforgetable night.”
Doors open on Dec. 14th at 6 p.m. and fights start at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $35 and are available at Tony G Presents. A portion of the ticket sales will support student scholarships for Lyke’s Boxing Gym, which just relocated from Coon Rapids to Spring Lake Park.
