BOXING: *UPDATE* ZARZAR SEEKS KO IN IOWA TONIGHT

UPDATE: Mengistu Zarzar lost a four round split decision to DeShon Webster moments ago in Kansas.
Mengistu “The Dynamic Warrior” Zarzar (6-1-1, 5 KO’s) of Brooklyn Park, MN will box DeShon Webster (9-1, 6 KO’s) of Kansas City, Kansas tonight at the WinnaVegas Casino in Sloan, Iowa. The Minnesota southpaw says that he took the fight on 2 days notice because he always stays ready in the gym. Zarzar vs. Webster as well as the other off TV Showtime bouts can be watched live at 7PM Central time on GH3 Promotion’s Facebook page here.
Most recently, Zarzar challenged Minnesota’s other top cruiserweights in back to back fights. And he’s been vocal about getting a rematch with both Phil Williams and Al Sands in 2018. He made it a point to address his hopes of a rematch before talking about tonight’s fight.
“I want to fight them both! I am the real champ, tell them I said that. I want my rematch. I am ready to take over the region.”
First, Zarzar will have to get past DeShon Webster later tonight. Webster defeated local cruiserweight Lucas St. Claire of North Dakota in 2017 but also lost his last fight to Ali Akhmedov (9-0) by unanimous decision.
“He just fought for a title and I know he (Webster) is sleeping on me” said Zarzar. “He thinks I am a free pick and I am about to knock him out for that. I want 7 fights this year starting with this one. I don’t get ready, I stay ready.”

The main event is a Showtime televised bout between Ronald Ellis and Junior Younan.
