BOXING: UNCIVIL WAR ERUPTS WITH WILLIAMS-ZARZAR 2 PLUS ABELL

“Uncivil War” erupts on November 2, 2019 at the Myth Live in Maplewood, MN. The main event matches MN State Cruiserweight champion Phil “The Drill” Williams against title challenger Mengistu Zarzar for the second time. Also “Minnesota Ice” Joey Abell brings his hammer fists back to Minnesota for a homecoming bout in the co-feature.

Two years have passed since Williams and Zarzar

first met in Minneapolis and there has been a steady amount of back and forth trash talk between them since. The build up was tremendous for round one and fans packed the Hyatt in 2017 to see the cruiserweight bangers settle the score. The anticipated fireworks never ignited though and the fight ended in an 8 round split draw. Neither man was able to let the punches fly as they had hoped.

The potential for an all out war is still present today

and both Williams and Zarzar promise that this fight will be different from the first. Williams has put fighters to sleep with one punch but also likes to display his boxing abilities. Zarzar brings a “fear no man” attitude to the ring and his unorthodox style has left good fighters swinging at air. This fight could end in many different ways and that is what has fans intrigued again for the rematch. “The Drill” steps back into the ring for the first time since he met Zarzar nearly three years ago. Williams however, lives in the gym and appears to be in top shape. He and Mohammed Kayongo run the North Side Boxing Club in Minneapolis. Zarzar on the other hand of Brooklyn Park has been very busy gaining valuable experience while on the road against tough competition. In fact, his opponents since facing Williams have a combined record of 64W-8L-5D. This is an interesting main event that nobody will be able to predict until the two finally meet to settle the score.

“I Really don’t Like the dude so I’m going to do this fight to shut his mouth” said Williams bluntly. “Plus I didn’t give my fans and supporters, especially the North Side, a pleasing Drill fight the last one. So we are going to raise the roof on this one. I’m going to put on a Show.”

“All I know is that he is going down!” said Zarzar when asked to predict the outcome on November 2nd. “This fight will be different because it’s not a feeling out process this time. We already did the feeling out process. Now it’s time to get it on. I never lost any of my out of town fights. This game is nothing but money and politics. Come November 2nd, I will finally be crowned champion. I have nothing else to say!”

Heavyweight Joey Abell (34-10, 32 KO’s) of Coon Rapids, MN fights in the co-feature. His last two fights took place in Poland and he’s faced some of the divisions biggest names over his career. Now he’s looking to turn back the clock and score another devastating KO win in front of his loyal hometown fans.

“It’s going to be great” said Abell. There are a lot of fans here that don’t have the ability to leave town and a lot of times I’m not on TV. So it’s going to be good to be back and have the fans present right there and have that experience.“

Recently, Abell spent time in camp with England’s Dereck Chisora for the Brits fight with Arthur Szpilka who like Sbell, is a southpaw.

“ It was a great experience to get out of town for a couple weeks. He’s a top ten guy in the world and fought a lot of the top guys. I was able to compare myself to him a little bit and it was just a great experience.“

Abelll will face Quincy Palmer (10-10, 10 KO’s) of Little Rock, Arkansas. The full card can be viewed HERE.
