QUICK MINNESOTA BOXING RESULTS, CHECK BACK FOR FULL STORY AND PHOTO’S

“Golden” Caleb Truax (28-3-2, 18 KO’s) stopped KeAndre Leatherwood (20-5-1, 13 KO’s) on Friday night at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN. The first half of the fight was tough to score with a lot of holding and inside fighting. Truax landed his shots on the inside while Leatherwood may have found himself up on the cards as a reward for his counter punching. Leatherwood had a good seventh round but was deducted a point for holding in the round. Truax stormed back in the 8th, having by far the best round of the fight for either fighter. Truax landed two monster right hands that left Leatherwoods jaw open for the rest of the fight. Truax had his gritty opponent staggered for the rest of the round. Truax dropped Leatherwood with a right uppercut in round nine and finished things in the 10th when Leatherwood was  not allowed to continue by the doctor because of what was reported as a broken or dislocated jaw. A point was taken from Leatherwood earlier in the 10th for holding. The time of the stoppage was 2:23 of round 10.

Markus Morris (11-3, 7 KO’s) of Duluth, MN scored a third round TKO victory over Tony Lee (11-2-1, 3 KO’s) of Saint Paul, MN in a super lightweight bout. Morris lost his State 140 pound title on the scales but made another statement with the win. Lee, who had been out of the ring for over 2 years, started strong and landed a left hook that sent Morris stunned and to the ropes. Morris recovered later in the second though and after some good exchanges from both, had the momentum heading into the third. A swinging left hook to the body by Morris sent Lee to a knee early in the third. Lee popped back up but Morris was now in full attack mode. Another left hook to the body, followed by a right to the head sent Lee to the canvas. Referee Gary Miezwa waived the fight off at 2:16 of the third round.
