BOXING: Northfield’s Vicente Alfaro Returns This Saturday

Minnesota State Jr. Featherweight champion Vicente Alfaro (9-4, 3 KO’s) of Northfield, MN has been preparing for an 8 round battle against undefeated prospect Jarico O’Quinn. The bantamweight showdown takes place at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey this Saturday night.vicente alfaro

The main event features a middleweight showdown between Claressa Shields and Christina Hammer in what could be the most significant fight in women’s boxing history. They meet for the undisputed WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF middleweight titles in a Showtime televised bout.

Alfaro will be returning to action for the first time in nearly two years when he defeated Noe Ramirez (11-7) in Mexico. He successfully defended his state title against Jonathan Perez before that. In front of Alfaro on Saturday night is the 22-year-old O’Quinn who is a former National amateur champion. The fight is contracted at a weight of 116 LBS. Alfaro will head to New Jersey with Scott Tolzman and Oscar Chavez who will be in his corner. Showtime typically streams off-TV fights on their Youtube page and we will update this story to reflect that if it happens.

Below is a story in which O’Quinn talks about facing Vicente and more.
