BOXING: MORE FIGHTS FINALIZED FOR AUGUST 25

28 year old DeLorien Caraway (10-1) of Minneapolis, MN plans to continue rolling at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Mn on August 25th. Minnesota boxing’s next big show is set to feature exciting match ups for local fight fans which includes Caraways return. Caraway has two victories this year at the Casino and is also seeking to avenge the only loss of his pro boxing career in a rematch against veteran boxer Gilbert Venegas of Iowa. The Minnesotan says a hand injury kept him from doing everything he wanted to the first time around but is ready to go with just under two weeks remaining until fight time.

“This is a personal fight that I wanted pretty much the next day after our first fight” said Caraway. “I thought I won the fight pretty clear with one hand. I understand the judges might not like my style at times, but I’m fully 100% with all my weapons this time around. He’s a great competitor but revenge is a must. He humbled me in a sense and I respect him for that. It was a great lesson learned.”

Undefeated Jr. middleweight Ve Shawn Owens (6-0) of Minneapolis, MN is the newest addition to the

show. Owens will box 27 year old Brandon Philips Black (1-2) of Kansas. Owens got the Minnesota boxing community talking a few months ago when he and MN state 154 pound champion Antonio Johnson traded words about a potential showdown. Owens hinted at the possibility of a meeting with the Saint Paul boxer again while discussing his August 25th return.

“I’m pretty excited that I’m heading back to the Hinckley Casino. I’ve been in the gym all summer for this moment while improving and staying sharp. Honestly, I think I could have done better last time at Hinckley. This is my chance to show Minnesota fans and a few fighters what I’m about. Brandon Phillips is a tough fighter and I’m expecting 100% out of him. Hopefully after this victory…title shot.”

Super featherweights Nate Rubin (4-0-1) of Thief River Falls, MN and Ramiro Hernandez (8-0) of Cleveland, Ohio are set to engage in a six round bout. Rubin had success in the local boxing scene as an amateur before moving forward in the pro ranks and Hernandez has fought 6 of is 8 pro fights in Minnesota. As a result, this fight should set the winner up to be ranked among the elite in the State’s division.
“I have much respect for Ramiro and his team” said Rubin. “I want to thank them for taking the fight. May the best man win.”

Danyelle Williams (2-0) of Owatonna, Mn is scheduled to meet Hasim Rahman Jr. (2-0) of Baltimore,

Danyelle Williams

Maryland in a battle of undefeated heavyweights. Williams is a skilled MMA fighter who shocked both Vince Downwind and Van Goodman in his two pro boxing matches. Hasim Rahman Jr‘s father Hasim Rahman is the former two-time World Heavyweight Champion that once defeated Lennox Lewis. With nearly 100 amateur bouts under his belt before turning pro, Rahman is now ready to make his own mark in the heavyweight division.

“I’m super excited to get back in the ring August 25th, especially in Minnesota” said Rahman. “I have a lot of friends and support out there and I can’t wait to give them a show. They say the 3rd times a charm so I’m looking to make this my biggest statement yet!”

Hasim Rahman Jr.
