BOXING: LIVE BOXING AND A HISTORY OF BLACK BOXERS THIS AFTERNOON

SIR Boxing and the St. Paul Eastside YMCA team up this afternoon to present a day of amateur boxing matches and presentations honoring some of those who have paved the way in the ring for black history month on Sunday, February 23, 2020.

February is Black History month and Sir Boxing’s Cerresso Fort says they have put together the days action to pay homage to some of our great boxers locally as well as abroad. Local boxing legends such as former world champion Will “Steel” Grigsby, Doug “Demolition” Demmings, and the late “Fabulous” Fred Moore will be honored. Moore, who fought out of Rochester, MN passed away last December unexpectedly at the age of 52 (read more here).
Fort says that greats like Muhammed Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Frazier and more will also have light shined on what they have done for boxing and for the world.

The amateur boxing action will begin at 3 PM CT at the Saint Paul YMCA located at 875 Arcade St, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55106. Teams from all over Minnesota are set to compete as well as a club traveling down from Winnipeg, Canada. The presentations will take place throughout the afternoon between the matches. Tickets are priced at $16 for adults and $8 for children under the age of 12. Tickets can be purchased at the door or ahead of time HERE.
