BOXING: JAMAL JAMES DEFEATS DAN ON FS1

Jamal “Shango” James (21-1, 9 KO’s) of Minneapolis, MN won a 10 round unanimous decision over Canada’s Jo Jo Dan (36-5, 19 KO’s) last Saturday night in a nationally televised (FS1) welterweight match in New York. James used his range and craftiness to win most of the rounds while Dan proved to be a tough veteran that kept coming forward until the end. Final scores read 99-91-, 98-92 and 97-93 all for the Minnesotan James. James showed off his superior skills and appeared to sweep the first five rounds. Dan landed some nice body shots in the 6th that appeared to affect James but the Minnesotan fought back and regained control in the following rounds. With another solid boxing performance in the books, James proved again why he is viewed as one of Minnesota boxing’s top fighters. The Minnesota state welterweight champion thanked his supporters for being there following the fight.

“I want to thank you all for the support and love that everyone has shown me during this long and vigorous journey as I continue to climb towards my dream. Ive been training for so long that it was relief and breath of fresh air to finally perform once again for you all and bring home another victory to not only myself, but to the state of MN. Please continue to grant me your support and closely watch your weather forecast cause the STORM is coming and you don’t want to miss it.”
