Jamal “Shango” James (20-1, 9 KO’s) of Minneapolis, MN was set to battle Samuel Figueroa (11-1, 4 KO’s) tomorrow night live on Fox Sports 1 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. James’ weight was on target but weight issues with Figueroa have led to the fight not moving forward. A short notice replacement opponent could not be found.
The fight card is still a go with the headliner being a welterweight clash between Miguel Cruz and Alex Martin.
Official statement by MN State welterweight champion Jamal James: Do to health problems from my opponent, I will no longer be competing on tonight’s FSN1 Tuesday Night Fights boxing card. I apologize for all the inconvenience and even though I wanted to give a great show, health comes before all and I’m glad that the fighter is recovering because in a sport such as pro boxing, you don’t want to enter any fight unless you feel 100%. Stay tuned cause we will be back in the ring soon. Thank you all again for your continued support.
