BOXING: HUBBERT MEETS WILSON IN MIDWEST SHOWDOWN

Former Minnesota State super lightweight champion Rondale “Give Em Hell” Hubbert (10-4-1, 6 KO’s) of Minneapolis has his eyes set on a January 20th, 2018 return. After two years out of the ring, Hubbert has picked a tough challenge for his comeback fight. Midwest bragging rights will be on the line as Hubbert faces WBF USA Super Lightweight Champion Deonte “Bomaye” Wilson (8-2, 3 KO’s) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 8 round lightweight match is promoted by Supreme Hits Promotions and takes place at Turner Hall in Madison, WI.
Training camp began over a month ago and Hubbert says he will be traveling around the state for sparring. High level local fights could be in Hubbert’s future and he says this is only the beginning. The Minnesotan is already scheduled to box on Driller Promotion’s May 5th Canterbury Park show. However, Hubbert told MN Fight News that right now his focus is squarely on Wilson.

“I’m just looking forward to being back to doing what I love and putting on a good show for

boxing fans. I’m coming off a two year break and a couple losses from short notice fights. Now I have a full camp and I’m focused on getting some wins under my belt. I would love to get the Minnesota jr. welterweight title back in the future but I’m just taking it one step at a time. I have a tough opponent in Deonte Wilson so that’s what I have my sights set on. To all my fans, I just want to say I’m back, let’s give em hell.”

Deonte Wilson has fought nearly half of his pro fights in Minnesota and won a unanimous decision over Matt Murphy last November at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN. The main event of the night will feature Duarn “The Storm” Vue. Vue fights under the same promotion as Wilson and has also been featured in Minnesota frequently.
