BOXING: GRAND FIGHT ANNOUNCEMENT, MORRIS VS LEE
The Grand Casino Hinckley’s “Grand Fight Announcement Week” has arrived. All week we will be bringing you new match ups for what will be Minnesota’s next pro boxing show on August 25th, 2017. The fights will take place outdoors under the casino’s new amphitheater and will begin at 7 PM.
In a featured bout, Minnesota State super lightweight champion Markus “Hooch” Morris (10-3, 6 Ko’s) of Duluth, MN will put his title on the line against Saint Paul’s Tony “2 Sharp” Lee (11-1-1, 3 KO’s).
Morris defeated Jeremy McLaurin last November in Carlton, Mn to win the belt. Lee is the former Minnesota State lightweight champion, a title he vacated in a move up in weight to the 140 pound super lightweight division.
“Me and Morris have been trying to fight each other for over a year” said Lee. “I give him respect as a fighter now that we are officially on board to fight each other on August 25th. I am excited to show Minnesota that I haven’t lost a step and I am still Tony “2 sharp Lee”. May the best man win… and I look forward to being that man!”
“I don’t really know Tony personally but he seems like a good guy” said Morris. “He want’s what I have. There’s never been any hard feelings between us, it’s just boxing. Like I said, he wants what I have so I’m going to show him why I am the champ come august 25th.”
