BOXING: BRANT PUNISHES KOPYLENKO ON ESPN

Former WBA world middleweight champion Robert “Bravo” Brant (26-2, 18 KOs) stopped Vitaliy Kopylenko (28-3, 16 KOs) at the conclussion of the fifth round on Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada. Referee Jay Nady stopped the bout after looking at Kopylenko’s cut and swollen face, particularly the closing left eye of Kopylenko.

Brant was more selective with his punches while landing a pole like jab and thudding right hands to the face of Kopylenko who took the fight on 3 weeks notice.

Brant continued success with his jab hard right hands into round five. Kopylenko looked beaten, cut, swelling and dazed as the fight was halted. The win came after 407 days out of action for Brant who is targeting a third fight with Ryota Murata.
