Fargo, North Dakota--- Within minutes of undefeated middleweight Andy 'Kaos' Kolle's TKO victory over Vance Garvey, one of Minnesota boxing's well-kept, if not well-known, secrets was made public. Ring
announcer Greg Lowe announced Kolle is set to challenge 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward in an HBO-televised fight on April 29th. The southpaw Kolle used his advantages in height and reach landing
stiff jabs and hard straight left hands throughout the fight. Garvey of the Bronx, New York took the punches well early and never stopped trying, but he couldn't get close enough to do any damage and
looked tired by the fourth round. By the end of the fifth round, Kolle's continued assault was showing
its effects as Garvey's nose was bloodied and his legs looked weakened.
In the sixth round, Kolle started hurting Garvey with jabs. Soon thereafter, Kolle landed a huge left hand that buckled Garvey's legs badly. Referee Mark Nelson quickly stepped in and gave Garvey a standing eight count. Before he could finish, Garvey's corner had seen enough and mercifully threw in the towel.
The 23-year-old Kolle will bring a 9-0 record with 7 KO's into the ring when he faces Ward in April. The tough Garvey falls to 6-22-4, 1 KO.

Minnesota Middleweight champion Butch 'Mad Dog' Hajicek won a unanimous decision over John 'Die Hard' McClean. Hajicek of Grand Forks, North Dakota used a hard right hand to the body early on to take control. As the fight wore on, the shorter Hajicek established an effective jab and mixed in occasional right
hands to the head. McClean of Winnipeg, Canada dealing with a bloody nose and badly swollen left eye, came on strong in the last few rounds to make the fight more competitive although the judges' scores didn't show it. Two judges scored the fight 60-54, while the third judge had it 59-55. The 32-year-old Hajicek is now 5-5-1, 2 KO's, while McClean falls to2-12-4, 1 KO.

18-year-old high school student Tyler Gould needed only 63 seconds to teach Ben 'the Educator' Lane a brutal lesson in their junior middleweight fight. Seconds into the fight, Gould attacked and wobbled Lane badly with a big right hand to the head. Lane was badly hurt and referee Mark Nelson stepped between the fighters and gave Lane a standing eight count. It didn't take Gould long to land another big right hand that put Lane
down hard. Lane looked really hurt but got up. Gould went on the attack again and landed another monster right hand that put Lane down for the final time. Lane, a school principal in St.Paul, showed heart and determination by getting up again, but Nelson and Lane's trainer Al Brunette had seen enough and rightfully stopped the fight. Gould, of West Fargo, ups his record to 2-0 with two brutal KO's. Lane drops to 3-1, 3 KO's.

Detroit Lakes, Minnesota's Dion Sgro won a majority decision over Valley City, North Dakota's Travis McCullough. The fight wasn't pretty, but the crowd loved it. Both fighters looked exhausted throughout the fight, especially McCullough who bent over on numerous occasions. Neither fighter went down, but referee Tom Crawford administered two standing eight counts to Sgro and one standing eight count to McCullough.
Another rematch may be in order because each fighter has a win and a loss against the other.

In a bloodbath, welterweight Raul 'the Matador' Gracia won a unanimous decision over a game Hector 'the Fine Chihuahua' Orozco. Both fighters were cut badly from what looked like accidental headbutts. Gracia simply outworked Orozco throughout the fight and landed a hard left hand to Orozco's body to score a 3rd round knockdown. All three judges scored the bout 40-35. Gracia of St. Paul, Minnesota ups his record to 3-0, 1 KO. The 'Fine Chihuahua' drops to 0-1.

In the opening bout, super middleweight Jesse 'the Brawler' Barbot stayed undefeated with a 1st round knockout over Fargo's Jordan Isaacson. Barbot, of Casselton, North Dakota, landed a big left hook that put
Isaacson down hard on his back. Isaacson showed heart in getting up, but got up on wobbly legs and the bout was stopped. The 29-year-old Barbot improves to 2-0, 2 KO's. It was Isaacson's pro debut.
