Walters Decisions Davis at the Decc!
By Jesse Kelley and Miranda Sannes

"JungleBoy" Zach Walters retained his Minnesota State lightheavyweight title in Duluth last Saturday with an entertaining unanimous decision victory over Anoka, Minnesota's Boyd Davis. Walters kept the pressure on "Peek-A-Boo" Davis, outworking the slick 37 year old fighter for the better part of eight rounds. Walters was able to catch Davis on many occasions but unable to finish him off as Davis would clinch before Walters was ever able to follow up. Davis fired off combinations and then look to tie up the Minnesota state champ or back off, posing and making faces to frusterate Walters at times.

By the fifth round, Walters was begginnng to throw more and more shots to the body of Davis. Davis was showing signs of fatigue. The sixth round was huge for Walters. Another barrage of left and right hands to the body sent Davis stumbling across the ring into the ropes.Walters was all over Davis who had a hurt look on his face but managed to stay on his feet until the end of the round. Davis was game throughout the bout but didnt seem to have the fire power to do any real damage to Walters. Walters saved his best for the final round as he rocked his opponent on several occasions. Davis was barely able to make it to the final bell but to his credit showed a very good chin in the final minutes. Walters won by scored of 79-73 on all scorecards.
