Walters, Kolle Victorious in Superior!
October 13th, 2007
By Jesse Kelley
It was a night of knockdowns for Zach Walters and
Andy Kolle Saturday night in Superior, Wisconsin.
In the opener, Jungle Boy Walters out gunned Illinois's Ali Supreme.
Both fighters tasted the others power early but neither backed off.
A move that would backfire on Supreme. A left hook caught Supreme
square on the jaw midway through the first round. Walters followed
up with a big straight left that sent Supreme rolling head over
heals on the floor to his corner. Supreme should be given credit
for rising but his legs were never the same from that point on.
Walters dropped Supreme two more times in the final round before
the referee waived the fight off at 2:32 of the second round.

Andy Kolle secured his showdown with "The Pride
of the East Side" Matt Vanda as he dominated ultra tough Bradley
Thompson of Alabama. Kolle kept his distance early setting up a
hard straight left that sent Thompson reeling back only to have
the ropes save him from going down. Although it was not scored a
knockdown, there would be no shortage of them to come. Thompson
would visit the floor twice in the second round and an unbelievable
5 times in the third round. Thompson's corner could be seen waiving
the fight off in the final round but Thompson refused to quit which
forced Kolle to continue the onslaught until the referee finally
waived the fight off at 2:42 of the third round after the final
knockdown.

Andson Griggs won a unanimous decision over Nick Whiting
in a four round bout. Griggs dropped Whiting in the first round
scoring the only knockdown of the fight. Griggs had trouble reaching
his taller opponent at times but controlled the fight when he decided
to throw his punches.Whiting took advantage of the times Griggs
hesitated. The final round was huge for Griggs as he almost had
Whiting out but ran out of time. The announcers only reported two
of the three judges score cards which were 39-36 and 39-36 for Griggs.

Duluth's RJ Laase had an impressive pro debut as he
outworked Saint Paul fighter Raphael Magdalano over four competitive
rounds. Laase put his combinations together and was busier which
was the difference in the end.

Sain Paul's Brad Patrow also won his pro debut by
unanimous decision over Jesus Velasquez in a featherweight bout.
Patrow seemed hesitant to open up in the opening rounds but started
letting his hands go in the third as he settled in. Velasquez took
some big shots but showed his durability once again in going the
distance with Patrow.
