Cold blooded would be the correct description for the vibe that Joey Abell has left Epic night club feeling in his last two outings. His nickname may be “Minnesota Ice” but Abell has been red hot in his last three outings, scoring three consecutive first round knockouts.
Once again, there simply isn’t too much detail to analyze with Abell’s latest win, this one by way of a crushing straight left hand that rocked Galen Brown(32-11) into unconsciousness last Saturday at the Epic Nightclub in Mnpls. Abell put his power on display early, capping the night off with an exclamation point, and possibly setting the stage for a heavyweight showdown with fellow Minnesotan Raphael Butler. The timing for a showdown with Butler would seem to be a positive factor, for Abell at least, who has polished off three straight victories to rebound from a tough three fight losing streak to end 2008.

Emily Klinefelter W Melissa St Vil
Emily Klinefelter of Iowa City seemed to Melissa St. Vil’s speed, and the fact that the world famous Roger Mayweather was the head man in St. Vil’s corner. For five rounds Klinefelter, and St. Vil put world class speed on display, as both landed a solid amount of hooks, but neither could really get a rhythm established when clinching became a trend. Despite the holds Klinefelter was able to do enough damage to pull ahead on two of the judge’s scorecards for a split decision win.

Harley Kilfian W Marty Lindquist KO 3
In what may have been the most action packed bout of the night, crowd favorite Marty “Wolfman” Lindquist succumbed to the younger, stronger, Harley Kilfian. Lindquist put a valiant effort forth, pushing the attack to the inside, but fell victim to a number of hooks and body shots that were amplified by Kilfian’s length, and leverage. After two and a half rounds of pressure fighting, a big right hand created an opening for Kilfian to land a well structured barrage that dropped Lindquist for the count. Kilfian KO3.

Jon Schmidt W Travis Perzynski UD 4
Jon Schmidt stepped in as a late addition, with an intriguing match-up against top MMA fighter Travis Perzinski. Perzinski used an unorthodox mma stance that kept Schmidt guessing for four rounds. Although Schmidt was able to land his jab on command, Perzinski created a complicating target, and ended up going the distance with the polished Jon Schmidt in his pro boxing debut.

In other action Charles Meir picked up his first win against Nick Whiting, moving to 1-1. Ismail Muwendo dropped the hammer on Felix Martinez for a second round knockout, moving to 2-0. Chris Clark was drilled by Rocky Graziano Jr. in the card’s opening bout, moving Graziano to 4-2.
