Middleweight champ Andy Kolle (20-2, 15 KO's) stopped Pat
"The Cat" Coleman earlier tonight at First Avenue
in Minneapolis. Coleman was crafty, but it was the 27 year
old Kolle that controlled the ring like a veteran. Kolle
went to the body in the early rounds but slowly began to
shift his attack upstairs as the rounds went by. Kolle put
Coleman down in round 4 with a straight left. By the start
of round 5, Coleman's left eye was swelling, bloody and
closing. Coleman was able to survive the fifth but told
referee Mark Nelson he couldn't see between rounds and the
fight was halted.
Javontae
Starks (3-0) stopped Alex Gonzalez (0-1) in the main supporting
bout. Gonzalez jumped on Starks as the fight began, throwing
haymakers that could only find the guard of Starks. Starks
let Gonzalez punch himself out before unleashing hard 1-2's
that put an end to the wild punches. A right uppercut set
up a number of unanswered body and head shots that left
Gonzalez hunched over on the canvas where the fight was
stopped.
Jeremy McLaurin (7-0) and Hector Orozco (1-5) brawled for
three rounds before the fight was stopped late in round
4 because of a cut over Orozco's eye, resulting in a TKO
victory for McLaurin. Orozco took the first two rounds with
relentless pressure as he set a fierce pace early. Orozco
forced McLaurin to play his game with the aggression and
volume punching. McLaurin began to settle and find a home
for his right hand though, particularly uppercuts as he
turned the tide on Orozco who seemed to be tiring. McLaurin
continued to look to land uppercuts in the fourth as Orozco
kept coming forward. A close round was halted at the 1:41
as referee Mark Nelson waived the fight off on the advice
of the ringside doctor after looking at the bleeding cut
over Orozco's eye.
MN bantamweight champ Antwan Robertson (6-1-1) made quick
work of William Bellcourt (0-2). Bellcourt came out swinging
but quickly found himself on the receiving end of Robertson's
right hand. The stoppage came at 1:55 of round 1.
Don Tierney (2-1) stopped Andrew Kato (0-2) after two rounds
of action. Tierney dropped Kato four times, each time with
a right to the head before referee Mark Nelson stopped the
fight in round two.
Jose Hilario (2-0) layed out Joe Negron (0-1) in the opening
round. Negron had a spirited start as he attacked Hilario
early. Hilario stayed patient and avoided taking any damage.
Hilario went on the attack moments later and sent Negron
sprawled on his stomach and out at :41 of the first round
with a left to the head.
