Several Minnesota fighters took part in undercard action at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota, Friday night.

Andy Kolle (22-2, 16 KOs) of Fergus Falls, MN, got the job done in spectacular fashion, stopping Daryl Salmon (16-5, 4 KOs) 1:31 into the first round.

Before the fight, Kolle, 28, said he felt like a more complete fighter at this stage of his career. Kolle started round one using stiff jabs that snapped Salmon’s head back.

Salmon, 31, a native of Savannah, GA., weighed in much heavier than Kolle but couldn’t make his weight work to his advantage. From the start, Salmon was in defensive mode.

When he attempted to land his first real shot, Kolle countered with a right that sent Salmon hard to the canvas.

Salmon beat the count, but wobbled back and forth, prompting referee Mark Nelson to wave off the contest. The victory marked Kolle’s fifth straight win.

Matt Vanda (43-11, 23) got a third round TKO victory over Jose Medina (15-20, 11 KOs) in an action-filled fight. Vanda, from St. Paul, MN, started round one using solid jabs and right hands to the head and body of Medina.

Medina, 34, had a good round two, going to the body and getting in clean head blows. Some of the blows appeared to get Vanda’s attention, forcing him to hold.

But in round three, Vanda proved to be too much as his jabs, body work, and hand speed made the difference. Right before the fight was stopped, Vanda landed between five and six unanswered blows, forcing referee Joe Cortez to wave the fight off at 2:57.

Hector Orozco (3-6, 0 KOs) was stopped by Michael Anderson (7-0-1, 5 KOs) in round three. Orozco, 22, was overmatched and outclassed all evening as Anderson, 29, landed hard right hands. It was Anderson’s body shots that made the difference in the fight as he used hard body blows to drop Orozco three times in round three, forcing referee Joe Cortez to call a halt to the fight at 2:36.
