Allen Litzau Update

Allen Litzau hasn't fought in almost six months because of a hand injury and the time-off has been very frustrating. "The heart is burning more and more each day," Litzau said. "I want to get back in the ring." Litzau says he injured his right hand during training in 2003. "I was sparring this guy and I hit him with a right and I dropped him," he said. "I sprained my hand and it instantly swelled up."
Despite the injury, Litzau continued winning and built his record up to 5-1, 1 KO. But he wasn't satisfied with how he performed. "I fought my last three fights with it, but I couldn't be to my full potential," he said.
Litzau then decided to have surgery and to let his right hand heal properly. Although it has been frustrating, Litzau says the time-off will help him become a better fighter. He says he now knows what improvements he needs to make. He also has been working out every morning and helping other young fighters in the gym.
According to Litzau's trainer, Bob Van Syckle, the cast is now off and Litzau will begin light hitting next week. Van Syckle also expects Litzau to be a better fighter. "He's a big puncher with his right hand," said Van Syckle. "(Now) he'll have
his right hand to crush people with, he'll have both weapons." A. Litzau should be back in the ring by the end of January or early February.
