Brad Patraw and Antwan Robertson will battle for Minnesota bantamweight bragging rights on Saturday, October 23rd at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, Minnesota. Both fighters say they are confident going into the state title fight having faced each other twice as amateurs and once as pros. Patraw won a decisive victory in their first meeting as pro's last March in Hinckley. Coming off the victory, Patraw says he will be happy with nothing short of a knockout win this time around. Robertson on the other hand feels that he is a totally different fighter then what fans saw in the first fight and looks at the rematch as an opportunity to even the score with Patraw. Minnesotaboxing.com caught up with the two fighters to discuss the upcoming fight. Here is what they had to say...

BRAD PATRAW

You won a convincing decision against Antwan last March. Talk about the first fight.
Well the first fight, I beat him for six rounds, easy. He didn't give me any trouble. The only trouble he gave me was that he ran the whole time. I wanted to sit in the middle of the ring and fight but he just ran a lot.

You said that you wouldn't fight him again after the first fight. Talk about why you are taking the rematch.
I always said there was no reason to fight again because I won the first fight so convincingly. I fought him twice in the amateurs and now once in the pros. I felt I fought him six rounds in the first one and beat him six rounds so why would I fight him again? They kept trying to get me to fight him and I said no. Now they threw in the state title as the main event. So they are telling me if I want the state title I have to fight him. So whatever, I will fight him again and beat him for eight rounds this time.

Antwan has been asking for a rematch like you mentioned. What do you think he will do different this time around?
I guess he won't run from me so much. But if he doesn't run this time, he's going to get hurt. I'm not going to be satisfied unless I break something on him. If he doesn't run, it will be a short night.

Was there anytime in the first fight that you felt his punches or he gave you trouble?
Not really. I think I have been hit harder in sparring with headgear. I mean I spar with Jason and Al (Litzau), Tony Lee and all those guys so his punches were nothing in there. I just walked through that sh-t.

Predictions?
Yeah, I don't see us going all eight rounds. I am hoping he stays in the middle of the ring this time because I am going to stop him. It won't go past the sixth round unless I hurt my hand again because that's what happened in the last fight. My hands are good though and I am going to stop him.

ANTWAN ROBERTSON

Your not happy with the way the first fight went. Talk about the first fight with Brad.
I trained real good for that fight. I was actually in real good shape. It just wasn't my night, I didn't throw any punches. I just looked like crap!

You fought well defensively but looked hesitant to pull the trigger on offense...
Being at that stage, that early in my career, it just hit me right away. I can't say anything more then it just wasn't my night (laughing)!

You have been asking for a rematch ever since the fight. Talk about why you wanted this rematch.
I want the rematch to show everybody that in Hinckley, that was not Antwan Robertson. I am training every single day and I just want to show everybody what kind of fighter I really am. I am ready for this fight and I will show everybody that I am a completely different fighter then you saw that night.

After two fight as amateurs and one as pro's, you now know his style pretty well. Talk about what you feel are his strengths and weaknesses and what you will do to try to change things in the rematch.
His weakness is that he doesn't move his head at all. He is easy to punch. I saw my openings in the first fight, I just didn't take them. In the amateurs, it was like my fourth fight and then I fought him again in my fifth fight. I don't think this fight will be hard for me at all. As you saw in the first fight, I just didn't throw any punches.

Any Predictions?
It doesn't matter to me if it is a decision or knockout victory. I can tell you that I won't be the one getting knocked out though (laughing)! I can promise you that! I don't have much of a prediction other then I will be the one bringing home the belt.
