JASON LITZAU: "EVEN WHEN I WIN, I LOSE"
"It was a big win for me against Juarez but as you see, none of that matter's" said Litzau looking back at the fight.. "He (Juarez) has a big fight on HBO coming up this week and I am the one sitting on the shelf. Obviously I am not too happy about that. I felt great in the fight with Rocky. It feels like I am getting better and better with age. Honestly it was a pretty relaxed fight. Rocky is a good boxer but to tell the truth, I had tougher fights before. Anyone that watched the fight saw me out-box Rocky Juarez, and do it easily. I got the fight on short notice, two weeks notice and I still out-boxed him." The victory was not only bittersweet for Litzau because he is without a marquee fight following the win, but also because of the circumstances involved in the stoppage during the Juarez fight. Although referee Jay Nady ruled the cut, which was under Litzau's left eye to be caused by a head-butt, Juarez and some onlookers felt the cut was caused by a punch and that Juarez was turning the tide. "It was an easy fight for me up to when I got cut." Disagreed Litzau. "Rocky didn't give me any problems other then that. It took me a few seconds to get it together after but I wasn't in trouble. A headbutt or a punch, it don't matter, I was winning the fight. I felt great, and I was gonna win the fight no matter what. He said he wanted a rematch after the fight and I wanted the rematch to finish what I started." Van Syckle added, "There was only three rounds left and Jason was not hurt, just cut. The plan all along was to box the sh-t out of Rocky for seven rounds and then knock him out for the first time in his life in one of the last three rounds. Jason did the first part of the plan, but the ref saved Rocky from the second part of the plan. We will be rooting for Rocky against Linares this Saturday so we can give him the rematch that he asked for and settle this thing once and for all." For Litzau, the fight against Rocky Jaurez was a successful test. Juarez had only been defeated by four men, Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez, Chris John, and Humberto Soto, all World Champions. This win could have propelled the 26 year old Minnesotan to more big stage fights, but he and Van Syckle say the phone has not been ringing. "I have nothing in the works right now. Just Old Country Buffet...maybe as a cook! Joked Litzau. "But seriously, I am signed with Roy Jones, and my life is in their hands right now. I hope that they will help me get something big. I am ready to fight anybody at 130-135. But it don't really matter who I want to fight. It's more about politics. How Rocky Juarez gets this fight on HBO beats the hell out of me. So as far as calling people out, it doesn't really matter what I say. But I would fight anybody out there, Chris John, Juarez, (Jorge) Linares, Vitali Tajbert, (Marco Antonio) Barrera, (Eric) Morales, any of them. I mean come on, I just want to fight. I am just getting sick of standing here with my d--k in my hand while these other guys are fighting each other. As you can see, I am ready. I guess I am still the opponent, still training for the short notice calls like I did against Rocky Juarez but whatever. Call me on a week and I will come in there and beat you. I have a great family, all the partying is behind me now. All I do is work out and take care of my family and wait for one of these guys to call." "This is the best Jason Litzau has ever been attitude wise, health wise, and he's ready to take the next step and keep fighting the top guys." Added Van Syckle. "Somebody has to give him a shot. We would love to fight for that WBC title against Vitali Tajbert. That is the fight we are working on and hopefully we get the opportunity to fight him. Jason has German ancestry and he would love to fight in Germany. In the mean time, we are up for anything."
