"Back to School Classic" Results!

Brunette's Boxing Gym hosted a great day of amateur boxing today. The show got kicked off with the 80 pound weight class; with Jesus Rivera in the red corner and Carlos Martinez in the blue corner. Both boys are from White Bear Lake and fought a good fight. Jesus Rivera won by decision.
The second fight in the 105 pound weight class was fought by Michael Lucero from Lakes Area Gym , and Ricky Johnson from ACR. Michael was the quicker fighter and won by judges decision.
The third fight in the 115 pound weight class was between Craig Butler from Twin Ports and Joey Claus from Rice Street. Craig was knocked down by Joey and was too worn out to make a comeback and Joey won the bout.
The fourth fight in the 140 pound weight class was between Jeremy Soft from Silver and Anthony Danaski from White Bear. Anthony was good at staying away from Jeremy, but didn't really get in there with his punches. Jeremy won by judges decision.
The fifth fight in the 130 pound weight class was between Ratmar Sharkov from Caledonia, and Jose Ruiz from Brunette's Boxing Gym. Ratmar threw wild punches, and was knocked down once by Jose. Jose won by judge decision.
The sixth fight in the 150 pound weight class was between Jeremy Stark from Rochester 4th Street and Travis Donahue from Rice Street Gym. Jeremy was knocked down by Travis in the first round and couldn't come back after that. Travis won by TKO in the first round.
The seventh fight in the 155 pound weight class was between Anthony Zangs from White Bear Lake, and Hector Oruzco from Rumble Boy. Anthony was given a standing eight count in the first round, and came back to fight a good fight, but Hector won by judges decision.
The eighth fight in the 165 pound weight class was fought by Joe Halverson from Rice Street in his first fight and Jon Jones from Brunette's Boxing. Jon looked good and won by judges decision.
The ninth fight in the 135 pound weight class was between Tony Griggs from Twin Ports, and Jon Schmidt from ACR. Tony kept throwing hooks while Jon was throwing more combinations. Jon won by judges decision.
The tenth fight in the 165 pound weight class was between Jeremy Williams from Caledonia and Bob Rust from Gust Gym. Jeremy was tired by the end of the first round, but won by judge decision.
The eleventh fight was the only girl fight of the day. It was between Amy Augsdahl from Caledonia, and Nicole Ortiz from White Bear Lake. Nicole was given one standing eight count in the bout. Amy won by judges decision.
The twelfth fight was fought between Cory Burton from Lakes Area and Erick Polnett from Circle of Discipline. Cory hit below the belt and the ref called a break, but neither listened and Erick got a good punch in as the referee was separating the two. In a surprise decision Erick was awarded the victory.
The thirteenth fight was between Mario Cruz from Rochester 4th Street and Nick Kendle from Brunette's Boxing Gym. Mario was knocked down once, and Nick won by TKO in the second round.
The fourteenth and final fight was between Roberto Molina from Silver Lake, and Luke McDivett from Rumbly Boy. They fought the only four round fight of the day and Roberto won by judge decision.
The third bout featuring Craig Butler and Joey Claus was voted the best fight of the day. Nick Kendle was voted best fighter.
