Carlson backs Martinez to the ropes and lands a 1-2 which gets Martinez's attention as the round comes to an end. Round two picks up where round one left off with both boxers throwing punches at will. Martinez continues to work the body and is able to land a good right after Carlson misses with a sloppy uppercut. Rounds two and three were similar as Hardwell was in control of the bout from start to finish.

As round one comes to an end, both boxers give fans their money worth. Griffin starts round two by taking the lead throwing jabs and using combos to gain control of the bout, but Maniffa lands a hard right on the ropes and Griffin comes back with his a 1-2 combo to end another close round. By round three, the fight seems to be in the air as both boxers start strong trying to leave a lasting impression on the judges. Both boxers' noses are bleeding, and Maniffa backs Griffin to the ropes but Griffin fights well off the ropes lands two strong rights which prompt Erikson to give Maniffa a standing eight. Either by design or because he was hurt, Maniffa chooses to circle and pick his shots for the reminder of round three a questionable move since the other two rounds were close.
