Holt Tko's Whiting In Fourth
By Greg Lowe

John Hoffman from the ACR Boxing Club promoted his first fight in Detroit Lakes last Saturday and it was a success. In front of the his hometown crowd Chris "the Cowboy" Holt had anything but his hands full with Nick Whiting from Bemiji. From the time the bell rang in the first round Holt dominated this bout. Holt established that powerful hook that we've become accustomed to seeing from the get go, knocking Whiting around the ring at will. More durable than thought of, Whiting looked like he could take a good punch. Which he did until the fourth round when Holt landed a huge right hook to the head and Whiting crumbled. He got back up, but just to throw in the towel at 1:36 seconds in the fourth. The hometown crowd and the local boxer were happy to take the victory by TKO.

The semi-main event featured Andy "Kaos" Kolle matching blows with Butch "Mad dog" Hijiack. Although very game, Hijiack just couldn't find any rhythem against a more skilled Kolle. Not looking for his first loss, Kolle switched his stances numerous times and laid down combos at will. After four rounds all 3 judges saw it the same way, 40-36 in favor for the still undefeated Andy "Kaos" Kolle who improved to 2-0 with 1 Ko.

In an exibition bout to start night was Detroit Lakes native Marcus "the Regulater" Rhode who stepped up with heavyweight Innocent Outuku. Both boxers looked sharp in this four round fight, neither getting the worst of the contest. Seeing that this was an exhibition bout neither was awarded the winner. Rhode did look like he had much more stamina than his previous bout in Mahnomen in early May.
The referees for the evening were "Crowd favorite" Joe Hoffman and Bobby Brunette, who both did a great job in the ring.

There was also a Tuff-Guy tournament where the northern boys slugged it out. If anyone wants any info on the results e-mail me at dosureman@yahoo.com and I'll be sure to get that to you. Until then Ladies and Gentlemen, we'll keep it rockin!!
